hes smart,nice,loves school,loves his family,loves to record,very intelligent i think those fit him because in the story when one of the teachers were talking about him to him they told him that he is very smart and he was saying he loves school that he wants to go to collage and then he was saying he loves his mama and all that then like torts the middle he was saying that recording is fun and he loves doing that that want i think fits lealan.

Life, Death in the South Side. This six word memoir sums up the life of LeAlan pretty well. The reason I say this memoir fits into LeAlan from Our America is because, he's been around a lot of dangerous stuff in his period of time, most of his time he was around shoot outs and lost many people during his childhood. At the end of every person he lost , he always had Lloyd to help him out. All the bad things that happened was in the south side because that's were he lived. This is why I say "Life, Death in the south side" fits perfectly for LeAlan from Our America.

ReplyDeleteWork hard or be brought down. I chose these words because Lealan and Lloyd have to keep on working hard or end like the people from the 'hood, doing nothing with themselves. If you stop working hard for a while you will be brought back down.
ReplyDeleteLeAlan ,I think he is active by the way or by all the sports that he knows how to play.He seems like he talks a lot by the way he well introduces himself. He also acts like an older person because he knows well from the right and wrong. I also think that his smart because he is doing well in school and his also in college. He is also seems to care a lot about his family and himself. He thinks right about what he wants for his family. To me he seems responsible enough.

ReplyDeleteThis sums up LeAlan's life because around in his neighborhood there are gangs and people dying, for example, in the story about Eric Morse being killed and in how some people say that reporters were everywhere in the neighborhood when Eric was killed, but most people who are killed don't even appear in the news.
Another reason this fits LeAlan's life is because he always wants find out how and why something happens in which is why he makes his interviews with Lloyd for many things, like about the murder of Eric and what has changed so much in the south side of Chicago since 1993.This is why these words represent LeAlan's life

ReplyDeleteNot able to, interesting, happy. LeAlan had a tough life, but at the end he went to college. He's trying to run away from the hood that he came from. He wants to become a better person, something he has dreamed of all his life. LeAlan life is all those six words because he didn't come from a rich family, nor the poor ones. But he wanted more in life, he never got everything. His life, his world was full of drugs, addictions, and so much more. Once he grew up he knew that wasn't worth it, he needed to get up his feet and start working. His life wasn't the easiest but he sure is proud of himself.

ReplyDeleteI say this because he has hi own dreams and goals in life. (one is getting out the life style he has been living in the most part.) The desert represents the trouble and bad things that sorounds his life and goals. The rose is all the things he did and stay out of the streets and trouble.The desert also represent the people who started but got involded in activity that got their lives in a ruin. The desert is dry but the rose fiends a way to stay alive. Like his goal to get himself and family out. That is what I think about LeAlan`s life.
"Try harder for you can succeed" LeAlan is a boy who lives in a violent place, he is a person who likes school, he want's to succeed in school for he can get out of the neighborhood he lives in. LeAlan tries his hardest to accomplish his goals of getting out of his neighborhood. He accomplished graduating highschool that means he can get out of the neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteThis is a good memoir to describe LeAlan's life because he lives in a bad neighborhood and yet, he tries to have a better life and get out of the bad neighborhood. I also think this is a good memoir because LeAlan tries to have a good education. He also tries to not be a bad person like most of the people where he lives at are. Another reason why I choose this memoir to describe LeAlan's life is because he is trying to make the neighborhood and the world a better place so that there won't be that much violence and darkness
He is an alien on earth. I say this because LeAlan is somewhere were he is not supposed be in the Ida Be Wells because he is a smart boy he was just born on the wrong time or got lost on his way to somewhere else or maybe he is supposed to be born there so he can see how life is if you don't go to school and study and when he saw that he wouldn't want that for him so that will motivate him to do good in school. That is why i think he is an alien on earth.
ReplyDelete"So much has changed since then" I say this describes LeAlan's life because when he was 13, (1993), he made a radio show with Lloyd Newman, and they named the radio show "Ghetto life 101". LeAlan was a junior spokesperson for the No Dope Express Foundation, a youth education and anti-drug organization. Not that much violence was in 1993. Until 1996 came along, that's when the violence started. LeAlan also says something before the end of chapter 24. “This is LeAlan Jones on November 19, 1996. I hope I survive. I hope I survive. I hope I survive. Signing off. Peace.” This tells that 1996 wasn't very good.
ReplyDeletethings have changed i think this the 6 word memoir because in 1993 to 1996 because LeAlan is going to go to college and Llyod is going to flunk a grade and both of them are going there separate ways. Also the projects are getting worse then they were back in 93, kids are doing drugs and in gangs. That's why i think "things have change since" was the 6 word memoir.
ReplyDeleteI think LeAlan is a mystery yet to unfold, by that I mean that he's got a lot more left in him, even with the cries of the projects he hasn't fallen like the people around him. He knows he doesn't want to fall, but you never know you have to wait till it's all over

So were he lived was hard because of all interruptions there like the shooting the gangs. that would keep a kid distracted from his school. but not him. he kept going even if it was a struggle with all the interruptions. that's it says hard to do. at he end he is going to college that y i put but not impossible

ReplyDeleteSix words that would sum up LeAlan's life in Our America would be never gives up without a fight. These six words sum up LeAlan's life because living in the projects was really tough and hard because the projects were not one of the best places to live in. But even if things tried stopped LeAlan, he did not let them get in his way. Instead he went on with life because he put up a fight with all the problems in the projects. LeAlan also never gave up because he was confident and did not let anything get in his way. This is why my six words to sum up LeAlans life would be never gives up without a fight.Our America peace.

ReplyDeleteThe six memoir that I remember about our America is that in the chapter of The Beginning is that LeAlan and Lloyd stared to interview there self and other people about there life and how is the hood is like. The other thing that the memoir is that went the kid told this other kid to rob candy but the kid did not want to rob so the kid told the kid to go up the three floor and the kid throw the kid out the window. The other memoir Lloyd ask his family what change in the 1983 I think that is the year is right or am I wrong, The other memoir is that Lloyd is going to college and Lloyd want a better life and want to move because that hood was not the best because there were to much violent. Lloyd want his nephew to grow a good person and not a bad person.

ReplyDeleteThis six word memoir applies to LeAlan's life in "Our America" by the fact that he always got good grades in school and always tried his best to be successful. LeAlan was always interviewing people on what had happened. For example he interview people about the incident when the little boy was killed or when he interviewed his old teacher about how life has changed in the pass few years. He was always working hard at school so that he could become a better person and have a better future. How you can or could have noticed his actions, was that he was always into school stuff and was always worried about his grades and future. That's why I think that this six word memoir applies to LeAlan's life in "Our America".

This sums up to LeAlan's life because he he lived in the projects his entire life. They made him who LeAlan is. This also sums up his life because where you live is how you live. These are reasons why LeAlan is who he is
A memoir I would write due to the changes in le Alan ' s life would be, "Life has incontrovertible challenges to face ." This means life has good and bad situations. But , soon you will over come them.
ReplyDeleteWhat describes LeAlan's life would be "Light and darkness have different decisions".I think that this would describe his life since a lot of experiences were the best in life made, but there is the bad side on how his life when there are problems with people and places. This would also say that there are many oaths to what life could be when he chose to be good and courageous when he would rather see good instead of bad when everywhere around him show that many people are suffering which feels very different considering about gangs,deaths,and outbreaks that has occurred in schools for the past few years when different choices were made. This would show what LeAlan's life is since there has mostly been a lot of subjects in the world to think about that are being faced with the hardest problems when there could hardly be a solution to be found with.Another reason for this memoir to describe his life is about the personality that has been changing through every year in his life that is the same,better,or different. In this modern time, he would feel safe that some changes are safer in other places when facing problems.Nobody wants to have the worst time in life when many people act abnormal than usual and there needs to be a better chance for a lesson to be told.

LeAlans life from Our AMerica,that we have read in the book is that LeAlan and Lloyd went through a lot of things together.This is the example i gave so my reasoning for this is that a lot of people are having a hard time with something they cant deal with it so that how Lloyd and LeAlan feel.My second though is that in the story it said that the neighborhood had change a lot which it didn't because a lady said she was sitting on the porch and their was a shooting going on and she was about to get shot.When your in a gang you cannot get out,its so hard to get out of it. My reasoning for this is that its true because i have seen this things happen not everyday though,i don't know why this people like to risk their life's by doing this kinds of things,this things wont take them anywhere in life.
ReplyDeleteLeAlan's life is hard,terrifying,and unfair.This explains LeAlan's life because he was the one that kept moving forward unlike his family that kept being out of the picture, he was the one who kept taking care of his sisters.This explains it because he didn't control the people who were being mean,he didn't told them to be and he was the person that no matter what he will still be helping his family. A six word memoir that would sum up lealan's life in Our America is that he changed in a certain time in the story from not making that much good choices to doing good choices. Also he in his life he is showing that he won't gibe up on his dream on moving on and becoming someone better. Lealan is a brave boy that wants to have a good life. And he is smart on trying to get other people and his own family to also make good decisions in life. And also when u read the story u get to know that lealan is knowing what to do for himself if other people or not in his side and just want to be bad and not good. Lealan is strong and is a possibility that he will end up in a good life and not in a bad life like he was living on before.

My second reason why that 6 memoir fits lealan experience is because us in person we had changes in our life also lealan did but not all of us make good decision and lealan did. That is why my 6 word memoir fits lealan life experience.

ReplyDeleteLeAlan is the rose because he is special and beautiful in his own way. He is a rose on a weed bush because instead of being a weed he choose better in life and became a beautiful rose.

This 6 word memoir fit LeAlan's experiences because he's the one that has been through more than Lloyd.Since LeAlan has gone through alot since 1993 he doesn't look back at problems that affected him back in the day. LeAlan is a brave young teenager he has grown up in a very dangerous neighborhood since when he was a boy. LeAlan and Lloyd are losing their friendship connection and since Lloyd is leaving, LeAlan will be in The Wells. This fits LeAlan's experiences because LeAlan had seen his neighborhood being bad and he doesn't get stuck between what is going on. Lloyd leaving really affects LeAlan because LeAlan won't have a friend there that won't be able to experience through their life. This memoir best fits to LeAlan because he doesn't look back on something from their childhood. LeAlan is between alot his family, his education, his neighborhood, and most of all his friend Lloyd. LeAlan looks back on what he had done wrong which was him doing bad in school. LeAlan is now thinking of his future but he knows he's not going to have the best of luck like Lloyd. I chosed this memoir because LeAlan is brave he takes care of his ill mother. Even though he and Lloyd live in the gheto they're brave becuase they have seen stuff no one should see. I chose this memoir because this means that out of a place violent and scary something good can come from it. In LeAlan's issue he lives in the Ida B. Wells, a very scary place to live due to the shoots in the neighborhood. This memoir reflects on his life because he was surrounded by kids on the streets and he knew he wanted to be something more. Along with his best friend, Lloyd Newman, LeAlan wanted/had the passion of interviewing others. This is why I believe that A place of fear will flower is a good six word memoir for LeAlan.

The reason for me describing him as independent and caring is because LeAlan is the kind of person to look out after his people, by this I mean that people who care for him he will take care of back. ReplyDeleteFortunate winner out of the maze. LeAlan never gave up on himself . He always told himself he will never end up in the streets. He loves studying and he will get out of the projects soon or later . It ain't easy to get out of the projects like that , you need to have an education and know how it works around the project , knowing the formula of living in the projects and knowing what's good and bad will give you a shortcut and you'll realize the things you have to avoid in order for you to exceed without ending up back in the projects. Just like in a maze try to figure it out , yes it's hard but if you know how it goes you might make it and if you don't you'll end up all the way from the beginning and start again. LeAlan fortunately made it and he's now going to college . He has accomplish the things he wanted to and willing to go back and help his relatives . Just like in a maze if you're out and know how to get out , you might go back and look for your family or friends and try to help them by leading them into the right path .

LeAlan's life was brave and dangerous. The reason why i think this six word memoir explains LeAlan's life is because after all the things he went through he was still brave enough to do his best to help out his family as much as he could. His life was dangerous because he lived in the ghetto, the projects. There was so many violence, shootings, kids doing drugs and even selling drugs. Some did it in order to survive for something and some others did it because they have chosen the wrong life path. LeAlan was brave enough to make the right choice in picking the right life path. Everybody had to be careful with their actions because if you're not, you're actions can get you in big trouble or even getting killed. LeAlan made the right choices in life, he brave enough to make them.

ReplyDeleteBrave- He did what not many people could do he was always around violence and gangs but he stood for what he wanted and that was being a somebody a person who can live a normal like home.
Long Term Goal- What he did was being able to set a goal for him self and he took that goal and made it come true from just writing a story about himself and willing to open up for people he didn't know and to share that us as the reader are not alone in this world that people are going through the same thing but he set a goal to study and get a good job and be a somebody.
Warmhearted- He put his life in ink and paper and recorded his life which from reading his book he really put some deep private things that he told us like his mother mental problem and we told him what do you regret recording he said " I won't take back nothing maybe the part about my mom but that would be all."
Smart-He decided not do to drugs and to avoid gangs and people who will get no where in life and he did and it all paid off later when his book was publish and he was notice for it.
Strong-He got through knowing his mother is meantaly unstable and that his dad was an alcoholic and also that one of his sisters was pregnant at a young age but he still woke up every day did school and college and did good with his life.
Hard worker- He did school he did all of his duties and he now is a writer that is making another story about the after match of his life now, he really worked for it and now he is wanting a family and he would be a great dad cause hes a hard worker and strongly willed to teach his kids to be good and hes a role model maybe and he got all of this for working.
