Walk Two Moons

"Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins."

Reflect on this quote, what are some possible meanings of this quote? What situations might it apply to? When do people tend to judge others? Is it ever helpful?

I think that quote means to not say anything unless you walk in his shoes. I think that is because moccasins are a kind of shoes and it says not to judge him or whoever “he” is.

  5. I think the quote means to not judge someone before you get to know them because “walking two moons in his moccasins” probably means to put yourself in his place and try to feel how that person would react to being judged. It’s connected somehow to the rule “Do not wish for others what you do not desire for yourself” which means to not be mean to someone if you do not want someone to be mean to you. The quote is another version of “Walk a mile in his shoes” except for the fact that this quote says to walk “two moons” which is much more than a mile. The meaning of this quote basically is “Don’t judge, until you trudge.” In my words.

I think this quote means don’t judge someone by their look, clothes, culture, until you walk 2 months in his shoes to know what his life is about. People might judge people when their in their car and pass by a guy with ripped shirt and pants. People may tent to judge people for the color or how they look. It is never helpful because you have not have experience what they have or been through their life.

It means don’t judge him until you go threw what he went though. The situations it apply to is when a person retired and got lazy than people judge him or her. No its never helpful to judge others. When they look scary or nice but what if there the oppose.

The meaning of this quote could be like don’t judge a man until u really get to know him.
For example, when u may see a man walking by, you may think like ‘’ugh he looks so mean, I don’t know if I should talk to him.’’ But once u probably got to know him you’ll realize not to judge just men, until you know him. But in this occasion, it’s about men, you may judge like their looks, but once u knew him you might even tell yourself that you were wrong, and you might even like him. This is sometimes helpful, but it depends if you really hate that person, maybe in an occasion when you are finding love this will probably help. Maybe when you need someone, you may find him, even if u judge him, but you get to know him you’ll probably get that right person.

There are a couple possible meanings to this. One of them could be: don’t judge a man unless you know what he has done; been through. One other could be: don’t judge someone unless you have done what he has done.
This could apply to a couple of things. One is when you see someone and you think bad or wrong about him. Another could be when you judge someone just by looking at him and not thinking about it.
People tend to judge others many times. It could be when they see a person of a different color walking down the street. Another could be when someone gets a wrong answer and you think he’s dumb, but he isn’t.
It is never helpful. Sometimes it could get you on the wrong foot with a cool guy. You shouldn’t judge someone unless you know his life.

  10. Don’t judge someone because of how they look. Also don’t judge them too soon they may be good people or even good friends. You might think that they are mean but maybe they are not. Especially don’t judge them in their raise they might be black, Mexicans and other tips. But don’t make fun of that just be nice to everyone even if you don’t like that person. Well all that I’m trying to say is that don’t judge too fast take time to know them.

The possible meaning for this quote is you shouldn’t judge a person right away you take two months to know them to see how they really are. This may apply to person that is new, lonely, or being picked or how they look. So you before you become like that get to know them. People tend to judge other people when they are new, odd, different from them, or their appearance. Yes this is helpful because if I want to help that person I will know him/her.

  12. What I think the quote means is that you have never been in his life so don’t judge him by anything minor like clothes or something. The situation the quote response to is when you see a guy with ripped up clothes you think he is poor but you don’t know that. It could be laundry day or something. When people judge others they are just looking for gossip to spread or they just don’t know a possible reason for it. It is never helpful to judge someone by just doing so. It is bad because they might be known for it and other people will pity or hate him. That is is not helpful at all

The quote means that don’t judge a person before knowing then or just in the first day you know them. First get to know the person then judge or just don’t judge at all. It may be in a situation which a person judge this other person without even knowing them for example: “Look at her she look like show-off and like she’s very conceded” The girl told her friend without looking twice. “Actually she is very nice she helps other she volunteers a lot and she always shares I know her since 3 years and she never acted like a show-off or like she was conceded” her friend told her with a smile. “I don’t care she looks like that and that why I’m not her friend” she said walking away. People usually judge the first time they meet them but I judge when I know them for good time. It usually never good to judge the first time you meet someone or the first time you see them.

  15. This might mean like to not judge a book by its cover or you don’t understand a person until you know what they have been through or what they’re going through. This may apply when you’re judging people or something. People tend to do this when inviting people over or something this may be useful.

  17. Some possibilities for the phrase is that “Never judge a book by its cover” meaning that you should never ever judge a thing or person by its appearances. One situation it would apply to is when you see a person in old clothes and stuff like that it might be a rich or famous person in disguise trying to avoid attention from everybody else.

It may mean before you judge someone, think about what they have been through and what they go through every day. More often than not, when you think about it, you shouldn'te judge them in the way you were going to.

For example if you saw a man on the street with a dirty face, long beard, old patched up clothes, and no shoes the first thing you may think is "ew. a hobo." But if you think harder, they probably lost their job, couldn't pay their bills, and wound up on the street. Then you might be thinking something more like "poor guy."

  19. I think it’s wrong to judge someone before you get to know them, because they probably are gona change their personality. Like my mom always says don’t judge a book because of its cover.

It would be cruel for some to judge them. If maybe did not do the exact same foot step. Don’t judge them so fast because they may be good people. A lot of people are so cruel to African American and also Mexican too. That is not right. That is just like walk two moons. And don’t judge if you don’t now them. Don’t judge someone because of how they look.

  22. The quote means that you shouldn’t judge a person without knowing them. This quote refers to people who meet other people and hate them without knowing them. They do this in school or something familiar to it. This is not helpful to the person that they are doing this to because it can make them mad or sad and you might be thought as a mean person. You should get to know someone in other words.

  23. I think that “don’t judge a man until you walk two moons in his moccasins” means to not judge someone until you experience what that person has went through. Another thing that it might mean is to not talk bad about that person until you meet them and learn how they are and to not judge other people by how they look but by how they are. The situations that it might apply to are that one person might be judging a person and talking bad about he or she and that person might even be nice. People might tend to judge others when they are new to school and other people might think that he or she are cool and one person is jealous and that person starts telling people that she is mean and she hates everybody in school even though they don’t.

  24. If I saw someone on the street that look dirty, nasty, and disgusting and it’s a homeless person I would say to myself, ill he looks dirty and I would say things about him because it’s his fault that he is homeless and does not have a job or clothes or even family because that person probably wastes all his or her money on beer or stuff that he is not supposed to be wasting it on. Also you should not help or talk to people like that because they could be faking on whatever they say or do!

Like maybe that guy from the cuote have been through a lot and has walked a lot, so then you should not be judjing him untill you know how he feels. In my opinion I don’t think it is very helpful to judge other people because you might hurt their fellings and what if they look mean but are very nice.People trend to judge others when they are different or sometimes because they are hating on that person and other times when they don’t know that person and has not met him or her.

A possible meaning for the quote is that don’t judge other people by the way they look or act intill you get to know them. Some situations it could apply to is for example when you see some one and you start judging them and then you actually then get to know them and then you say the oppeset of what you said before you didn’t know them. Some people attend to judge others when they first have a bad impression of the person. This is not very helpful because when you start judging a person you start talking bad about them and then the person might turn out to be one of the nicest people that you know.

A possible meaning could be that they are trying to say you shouldn’t judge a man by the way the look or act or even what they do. The situation it could apply to could be that when you look at someone and you think their nice because they look pretty or handsome. Well when you get to know them it might not turn out the way you thought. They tend to judge others when they spot something like for example. They see that she/he look pretty. Or like if you say he or she looks mean they might not be mean. It’s not helpful because it just makes people talk bad about other people.

  52. I think that it means that you don't need to judge someone until you know what he's going or gone through.

people tend to judge others when for example they see a man picking up cans, with a long beard, with broken shoes, with old clothes , with blood in his hands and the first thing that the people would say is ''look at that hobo'' but if they start to think , he probably doesn't have enough money to pay his house or maybe he lost his family but if they think harder you might say ''i feel bad for that man''.

Maybe he got divorce or a family member had die and he’s the only one that could help himself about his problems. So when it says ”Don’t judge a man until you’ve walked two moons in his moccasins” it means that don’t judge a person if he or she is rich or anything else that you might think it’s the best thing or the worst thing ever until you really know that person.

I learned that if you have something to say mean keep it to yourself because it might hurt other people’s feelings. You can’t be mean to others if they didn’t do anything wrong to you. Once I remember a T.V. show about when this people judge ladies when they walk in to get a makeup and there face done they judge them like look at her teeth or she is 300 pounds or her hair is just plain. I sort of like the show because they fix the ladies better than they look. You never know that something can bad happen to you.
