I Never Saw Another Butterfly
As part of our Holocaust presentation, some 8th grade Nightingale students performed a play that showed the hopes, dreams, and daily activities of children in the Terezin Concentration Camp.
Butterflies Project
These butterflies will be sent to a Holocaust museum in Texas to commerate the death of 1.5 million children during the Holocaust.
What i think about his experience is that he had alot of bad things going on. When it snow he had to sleep on cold air. He aim people from big hills. From my opinion i think what he did was good because he whent to war. Sometimes war is scary and some people dont want to go to war.
ReplyDeleteWell i think his experience was cool because he manged to live amd tell the story. I think he felt cool because in the video he says that they can trow a bomb and bomb their oppoinet nd like leave a black mark in the snow. and the way i think he felt cool was because of the way he said it. He said it with lots of potiol in his voice.
ReplyDeleteI think that that man went through a lot. He ate a real meal since forever and he tried to sleep in a building when ever he can.I think he was a german solider. I was amazed that he remembers so much and is willing to speak about it.

ReplyDeleteI think his experiences are fasinating such as him andothers having to dig holes just to have a good place to sleep.I feel that by him having to sleep in a semitary is un-believable that this is his living condition.They did sometimes had great meals but at the same time you still had people who was'nt required to get the meal because they were not on top of the hill. Most times they had to stand in lines and sleep in buildings. I just feel that he is very powerful and outstanding
ReplyDeleteI THINK THAT SLEEPING IN A CEMETARY WOULD BE HARD BECAUSE YOU MIGHT HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE FLOOR OR NEXT TO A DEAD PERSON.THEY HAD TO MAKE FOX HOLES TO HIDE IN FROM THE NAZIS AND HE SAID THEY WOULD BE SHOOTING A LOT AT THEM.
ReplyDeleteI thought that his expiriences were sad because he had to sleep in the ground.He also slept in the cementary. A soldier had lied about a cow that was killed and it wasnt true he just lied so that they could eat the cow. It was illegal to kill their life stock.The men would also sleep in fox holes.There wasn't alot of food for the soldiers to eat.
ReplyDeleteIn the video the old man was talking about the war he was fighting.He said it was hard to shoot.He said you had to get over the hill and shoot which was hard to because you had to be carful from all the bullets that were being shot. Many were killed doing this but they won.
ReplyDeletei think it wasnt so rough for him.he didnt say it was bad.but i thought it was scary being in grave place when your at war.he also showed a picture of his army budies. maybe it was bad for him but he didnt want to say.he as a person probably didnt like war like any other soldier did.besides he did say he liked it i know it must be so horible to remember.

ReplyDeleteI think that his experiences were kind of ok,because he did not suffer much during the war,like they were on a hill in a cementary. It could've been worse,they could've been in a area were they had no advantage in fighting and not really exposed. Like the guy siad that there was a guy on the hill with a rifle and that was good.

ReplyDeleteI think that is pretty harsh not khowin whre he was going to sleep next. He said that he had sleeped in the floor in a ceemetery I think that whould be pretty scary sleepin next to a dead person in a cemetery.I thought that killing a cow was not a good idea I think it was gross and not fair to animals or the family that owend the animal.
ReplyDeleteBased on these experiences, I think that we should have treated are soldiers better. We should have made sure that they had a warm place to sleep instead of cold dark wholes that he described or a cementary. Also,we should be able to provide better material for a helment and not use fat from a cow. Nobody should have a bad helment or not have a warm place to sleep when they are fighting for a country.
ReplyDeleteI think that his experiences were actually kind of horrible because like he said they all had to eat caned food until one day the cow was injured and they made stake with french-fries (which they got from a house near by) I also think that it must have been hard for him I mean sometimes he had to sleep outside in a foxhole and if the ground was to thick it took them like half an hour to built one. But sometimes they did get to sleep on a building. Also the soldiers had to get in a line with their cup or bowl to get something to eat. So yes I think that his experiences were ugly.

I say bad because one day he sleep had to sleep in the cementery.Also good because one day he ate meat with fries.The meat came from a cow that was injury (he thought it was a lie)and potatoes that they found in a house.The other days they ate cans of food.The sleeping adjustments depented on where they were at.
ReplyDeleteWell what i think about his experiences is it was very hard for him. He and others were feed can food. how would you felt if you ate that daily. The towns people brought a box with food but they were caned food. He ate a real meal with a cow and patotes. He slept anywere. Sometimes in the cematery, dig foxes holes,buliding. To bild a fox holes will take up to a hour put natherstarch and light it. Then did it over.
ReplyDeletein the video the guy goes though his expirences of how his day was he spoke of a day that they sleeped in the cemetary and that a cow had fallen ill and that he though that they were lying because of course it was aligel to kill life stock well that day they were able to eat meat and they had potatoe so they made frenchfries with it .this makes me think that these man are killing a cow life stock because they are stanving.he showed us pictures of the thinks that he had remember and these solders standing on the hill keeping guard .its horriffing to know how these me lived those day in that place on how they sleeped all huddle up and all of this was the expirences he lived during that time of his life with all his solders
ReplyDeleteI think about his experince is tha it amaze me that he had slept in a cementary.also that he could shoot the over hill only his side that he is in,but the other side couldnt so it was easly for them to kill. it was hard for him and his crew to eat because there were men in line and starvin and also they didnt really had enough food.

His experinces also seemed bad because if they didn't take over a town they had to sleep somewhere else. They also had to have people on the hill so they could shoot over but could not be shot at.
ReplyDeleteI think he went trou a lot in th war. That art of his life was a tramatizinq event because of the war. The best part of the war was when he had stake n frech fries n after that he had to eat from cans. The wirst part was qettinq shoot at but they where protected by the hill that was all the proection they had n their helmets n armor. The sleepinq arnqements where not tht qood where they took over is where they had to sleep n that was life riskinq because if the other soldiers new they would had been attacked n killed.

They had potatoes also and they had a great meal the man states. They ate steak and french fries up on the hill & he was smiling about it. He also says that he would sometimes sleep on a feather bed compared to other people they had to digg holes & stuff. He was kinda lucky.

ReplyDeleteThe experiences was that how bad they had to look for food around town so they wont starve to death.Also how the rifle men just get to eat out of cans while the other soldiers not from the mountain hill get to eat steak and fries.then also how they had to sleep on the floor and how the rifle men from the mountain hill had to sleep on the dutch holes they had made.then how some soldiers had to sleep up to three men together to stay warm.

ReplyDeleteI felt very overwelmed about his experiences.He had to sleep in a cemetary.Which he has visited.It was very sad when he said that he had eaten a meal.When they killed the cow and took some potatoes from so neighboors.He had steak and French Fries(: I wouldve been very scared to sleep in a cemetary b/c the SS officers could have just thrown you into a lake or something....
ReplyDeleteI think the guy was lucky because he said that once they people that lived 6 miles away came to feed them. I also think he was lucky because he said that they were on an angle were they could shoot the others. But the others couldn't shoot the ones down hill. They even had a butcher that killed a cow that was supposedly sick.
ReplyDeleteThe American soldier went through a lot in the war, he had seen so many deaths and while they were over in Europe fighting they didn't live as well as they did back home. Sometimes they would step over maneuver which is gross. Many soldiers lived through the same things he lived through.

The conditions they lived un weren't all that great because it looked like they were living in the streets. Sometimes walking they would step over maneuver which was entirely gross .
ReplyDeleteI think this man has suffered a lot because he has slept in a semintary.Also they slept in buildings.Reifel men slept on holes that they digged up.AT times they had food shortage and they had to bring food from places 5-6 miles away they brought food undercover in the night in winter.

ReplyDeleteand they had to dig fox holes.they eat food from a can.But one day they had a real meal so they probably happy i know i would because if i would to eat can food for a long time i would want a real meal .it would be hard not to have a real meal and only eating from cans of food.but he mad it so i think it amazing for him to survive all that.
I think with the type of experiences that these men went through they have appreciated life more than most people can. Because when the men where in battle they did not have many full or good meals to eat. These men most of the time did not have a bed to sleep in; they would have to sleep in hole that they dug up. Rarely will they have a good meal or be able to sleep in some sort of bed. Life will be more precious and appreciable when one has these types of experiences.
ReplyDeleteWell I think his experiences were different from world war 1 because many man did not sleep in better place then the people in wolrd war 2. The things that he had eat was better and normal food. The place that he slet was different because he sleep in a place where people go where they sleep because they are die. The man were so hurgy that they lie and said that a cow was hurt and they killed it because they knew that the cow was already going to die.They would say that so they can have a real meal at night because they knew that they can not kill the animail so they would lie about it. It crazy bacause it was winter and they had to live and try to live off of thing but still trying to stay warm at night and day.If they was in a new place they would be able to sleep in a old house and be warm and not be outside being cold.

ReplyDeleteI think that his experiences from World War II were a tragic because they had no place to sleep. They had to sleep in the cemetery. It was easy for the soldiers to shoot at the Germans because they were in the side of the hill and the Germans couldn’t see over the hill, so it was hard to aim right. They would always feed the soldiers in the front line because they were the first ones in front to fight. When they would get in line to get fed they would have to stand near poop to get their food.

For example he would stand in a food line just to get fed.Yet some people don't appreciate it. People like the man in the video should be honored for events like so.We should be greatful.

this video made me relize how hard it must be at war, and sleeping in cementaries can't be very comfortable because ur sleeping on the ground and on tomb stones and cement and maybe you get scared because dead peiople are burried there. And to be hiding from the nazis in fox holes scared, cold, and hungry can leave a pretty ugly image in your head of how these people suffered and struggled to free the jews from the nazis. If i were them i would be very tromatized by this.
ReplyDeleteWhat he went through seemed very strong. He rarely ever eat a decent meal. He mostly eat only out of cans or reserves. Even when he went to sleep he had to sleep on beds made out of feathers or just sleep on a fox hole. In my opinion the war seemed to have a big effect on the soldiers. Still this man seemed to have gotten over his experience , or maybe he just isn't showing it.

When they got really hungry some would of lied just to eat the cows, anything to survive. Also because they dirent had a plave to sleep or rest, they had there life ruff.

ReplyDeleteI think he had a few intresting experinces. He talked about having to sleep in a cemetary. He talked abbout sleeping arangments. He talked about sleeping in feather beds, and rifle men having to dig fox holes to sleep in. The rifle men would make small holes and blow them up to make them bigger, because the ground was sometimes to hard to dig into.
