Our guest speaker for the Holocaust who shared his inspiring story with us.
I Never Saw Another Butterfly
As part of our Holocaust presentation, some 8th grade Nightingale students performed a play that showed the hopes, dreams, and daily activities of children in the Terezin Concentration Camp.
Butterflies Project
These butterflies will be sent to a Holocaust museum in Texas to commerate the death of 1.5 million children during the Holocaust.
I think that he was brave to experience these things. In the video the man was interviewed about what the conditions where like during the holucaust. He said that him and his fellow soldiers would dig fox holes so they could shoot without having to worry about being shot back at.
ReplyDeleteI thought his experiences were a bit weird. For example there was something the old guy said about shooting while being on the side of the hill and killing a cow to eat steak and French fries (which kind of made me hungry). The old guy said that he and the people that were with him could shoot the enemy, but the enemy could not shoot them and then the old guy showed a picture of the holes that the enemy made from miss fire.
ReplyDeleteit is wierd that he didnt die since WW2. and is it possible that his group could shoot over the hill and hit close to the enemy and the enemy couldn't.had this been the situation of the WW2 that the nazi had less advantage than the other group.
ReplyDeleteHis experiences where terrible in the beggining, but if he was lucky enough he would have a good meal.. At one time he had to sleep in a semetary, in other occasions he had to sleep in other places where it wasn't as good. A guy friend of his use a fat of a cow to bubble in a helmet he had potatoes from one of he houses near by. They served steak and french fries to everybody that was in the hill. He and other people would get people to bring food miles away from where they were.
ReplyDeleteWhat I thought was that he couldn't kill a cow which was Illegal,He also survied the Halocaust with his Team Mates which he has a picture of them in a Row of 10 Men,even the sleeping arrangements it depeanded if they had time too sleep or not, they also gaved Food up in a Hill they would get drinks or Hot dogs which is a thing he Loved the most about it,and this is an Experience that I learned about His Survival at the Halocaust.
ReplyDeletewhat i know about his experiences is that he had to be alive and help the people in his war.they were all hungry and eating food .there was these people that tried to kill them in the semitary.so this person had to hold out and kill any person that were not them.hard to survive if you were a soldier ,evil is in every direction.
ReplyDeleteWell what i saw in the video was that this person was in the war and he saw who they fight and many men dead.one important example he saw was when we saw that he can't forget what we live .Also another thing is that the weapons they had were heavy and he also said that they couldn't see how cows were killed.
ReplyDeletethe old man was talkaing about how the condishions in the camaps were. people sleep in the floor and had little food. they even killd a cow even tho it was illigal. they claimd it was sick they did this b/c they wanted food badly.
ReplyDeletewell i think that the experience of the old man was veryb brave and he like survive to say the experince he had and how was like when he say about the bomb droping by his back and how other people got kill by all kinds of guns or bombs and how some get to survive.and his experience was very much not safe..
ReplyDeletei think his experience was really sad because like he said they didnt have enough food that all they ate was can food. then one day one of his friends killed a cow because the cow had gotten injured and they had taken it out of its misery but that was illegal to do. after they had killed the cow they had a butcher butcher him and made steaks then they had asked some people for potatoes and that they they ate steaks and french fries.
ReplyDeleteI think his experiences were kind of cool because it said that he slept in a cematary and he shot at people and if the shot back they would miss because they didnt have an right angle also in world war two he had good meals i dont think during that war many people got to eat like that.then one day one of his friends killed a cow because the cow had gotten injured so he wouldnt suffer in micery.but that was illegal. they had a butcher,butcher him and steaks potatoes and a nice meal.He also said that he slept in a building

ReplyDeleteWell, to me, this experience that this veteran had is very interesting and also hurtful in some ways. I saw how one of the soldiers in this man’s group killed a cow because it was already dying. Now this again was against the law back then. So right after this, the man talks about how he slept and what the arrangements were. Most slept in buildings, others like this man slept in featherbeds. But overall, I thought that this man’s fighting ability was extraordinary, how he angled his grenade throw and all of the explosions, just all, wow.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is amesing the things that people that are like five or six miles away came to give the sologers food.Which i think is very dangeres to do in a place that there is gun fire.also the things the solgers for food like waiting for food and staned next to a pile of poop.
ReplyDeleteI find Mr. Ted very lucky to have survived the war in those conditions. But I find sleeping in a cemetery very creepy because you are basically sleeping with the dead. I think it was very convenient that the enemy couldn’t fire back at them because the hill was in the way. Having killed the cow and receiving potatoes and making steak and french-fries was a good idea. It also made me a little hungry though. Having to make foxhole with explosives sounds dangerous and fun at the same time, but having to sleep in one doesn’t sound as comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI thought his experiences were quite amazing. He even stated that while serving he was in a foxhole. What I saw was an old WW2 veteran speaking on how life was like in the winter fighting and defending towns. He stated how the soldiers made a couple of helmets from the cow. Also how he felt he was lied to when one person said a how had been shot. Another thing I saw him say was how the soldiers made foxholes from nitro starch and how when haven taken over a town they would sleep in buildings unless of course you were in the foxholes. Lastly I hearted how it was that the foxholes positioning enabled them to shoot yet not the enemy.
ReplyDeleteBased on that veterans interview from world war 2 I think it's pretty amazing he survived the worst and most brutal war ever.I think the worst of his experience was on winter when he slept outside on destroyed buildings or even cemeteries where other dead veterans lie.But the best of his experiences was when people brought food and when it was easier for them to shoot because the enemies couldn't.
ReplyDeleteI think that his experiences were interesting because he had slept in a cemetery. Most people would be freaked out just to even be near a cemetery. They also had a rule that it was illegal to kill life stock such as a cow. They had to kill the cow to be able to eat and they fed the whole front line. The soldiers had to go through a lot by not eating as much as they use too. They had sacrificed there lives just to protect the use and to win the war.
ReplyDeleteI think that his expernices are cool because of how he remembers all of that and etc. The thing I really like is that when he said about the thing that they couldn’t shot them because of the hill. The other thing is that how could he sleep in a cemetery. I wouldn’t be able to do that that is kind of scary. It was funny because he said they ate French fries. If they didn’t have French fries they had cans of food etc. it was cool about the picture he showed them waiting for their lunch etc. and the bad thing is that they were standing beside a morel pile ewwwwww.
ReplyDeleteI think that his experience was kind of interesting because he talked about the life he had in the camp.He said that he slept in the cemetery once and that he even visit it before.I think that was something interesting because it was winter and how was he able to sleep outside with the cold?How did he survive?And he also said that on day he had a great meal with french fries and i forgot the other thing but he had a great meal:D that was kind of cool!
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view,i think that this man went through pretty harsh things.He was up in a mountain, didnt rally have anything to eat until they killed a cow and they had a real meal.His side was lucky because there was an angle up in the mountain and they couldnt relly get attacked by the other men.Like all the people i have read about that went through harsh things i think that this man will always remember this things that he went through.

I think his experience was hard because living threw those conditions must have bin teriable. haveing to burry your friends. not getting a desent meal every day ,haveing to kill a animale eating threw the blood ew . i think this man would will remember the things that he went through
ReplyDeleteFrom my persective I think that this man went throught a tuff life. He was in the mountains and didnt have anything to eat and so he killed animals such as a cow because of the fact that they had meat. He was a lucky man because there was an angel in the mountais and when that was there the men couldnt get attacked by other men. What I have read I think that the man will always rememeber this.
ReplyDeleteI think that the man went throug a lot of bad experiences,like how he slept and how he berly even had any food to eat.Also i found it interesting how they had to kill the cow to have a meal so they could survive.Also i thought that that they were brave and they tried to do the best to survive. In the video he said that they digged holes so that when they would shot they won't get shot back.
ReplyDeleteI think the man was smart to dig up fox holes to not get shot. He didnt have anithing to eat in the mountain so he shot a cow to eat if he didnt he would of starved to death. It was sort of brave for him to sleep in that semetarry because if he slept somewere else he could of gotten shot.

ReplyDeletethis man expirience were hard and cruel because they had to be watching who might try to hurt them like killing. this men had to go to the mountain and find cows if they were lucky when the man killed the cow the man could easily go get it and eat.

ReplyDeleteThe guys experiences were real sad and he went thtough alot. Even if he got good meals sometimes he still slept in a cemetery and it's pretty neat how people that go through all of that and still survive. And people these days that have a normal life always complain and take everything for granted.

I think that the guys experiences were sad and real tough. I think that becouse of what he had to do to survive to hide and to eat. For an example he had to make hole to hide and him and other soldiers went days without food and the last example is how they had to sleep and where.

ReplyDeleteWhat I would feel about the person's experiences is that it would feel very terrifying when the person would stay in the places where it would look really dangerous and he would have to be careful where he was.In a picture from the video,there would be a place where there would be a group of dead people when I feel really sad of what would happen,what the person said and feel about the picture of the dead people, maybe from the death camps. I would also feel really horrified about the person and soldiers in how they slept in these bunkers or something like that. That is how I feel about the person's experiance.
ReplyDeleteI think it was kin doff brave of him to sleep in the cementary because it can be scary at night and sleeping on the cement rocks and on the dirt floor mustn't have been so comfortable for him. also it was goo that he dug those holes because that way he can shoot at the enemies but the enemies couldn't shoot back at him because of the angel.
