Our guest speaker for the Holocaust who shared his inspiring story with us.
I Never Saw Another Butterfly
As part of our Holocaust presentation, some 8th grade Nightingale students performed a play that showed the hopes, dreams, and daily activities of children in the Terezin Concentration Camp.
Butterflies Project
These butterflies will be sent to a Holocaust museum in Texas to commerate the death of 1.5 million children during the Holocaust.
My favorite memory in 8th grade is when I saw the talent show. It's new to this school so I guess it was interesting. I saw how much actual talent Nightingale has. I saw a good script, dancing, and a magic act. Until today I still think it was interesting. I wished I could have a chance to see next years talent show.
ReplyDeleteMY FAVORITE MOMENTS WERE WHEN WE WERE PLAYING SOCCER OUT SIDE AND WE WERE GOING HOMEROOM VS. HOMEROOM ANFD WE WERE FIGHTING THAT ARE CLASS WAS BETTER THEN THIERS. SO WE PLAYED AND IT TURN OUT THAT ARE CLASS WAS BETTER THEN THIERS.
ReplyDeleteWhen the motivational speaker came to our school to talk about his life and how it has been without his legs. I felt like he helped alot with his speech to people who felt afraid or not feel like they can do anyhing because they are ''differently able''. He was very good wiyh his moves even if he didnt have normal legs. i feel like he's a very good motivational speaker. and he can hlep anyone he feels like they csnt do anything.
ReplyDeletemy fovour memory of eith grade was when i came back and i saw how everything did not change for some part it was fun and other it was sad because all my friends move on and im stok here again i make better friends this year and make better choises i think this year was like better and i like all the activitis i miss last year because of my class mates i think it was the first day of school and it was great moment. if i wold look at it in like 10 years i would laft and might cry for all the good moments i ever had this year.
ReplyDeleteWell my favorite memory is when we went to the house of blues and a lot of girls were wearing short dresses. The best part was when we were watching the performance and I had two girls one on each side sitting with their short dresses. They smelled like strawberries. Well I felt really good but also a little bit nervous. Oh my GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well when I look back at that moment I feel that I was a stupid person because I didn't do anything. I should have made my move and raise my arm over their shoulder.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite momory in 8 th grade was when we had got are ribbons. It is my favorite momory because I was happy that this is one of the step on graduating. This was the happy day because we were wrighting on the ribbons and wright how we felt and how we had some other momorys. When I look back at this day I would laught and see how I felt with the people I was with at this time. Also know how it was like knowing this was the last week being together and see what will happen in that whole week afther this day. I know I had felt I had felt like crying because I know about everybody in the school this year and know that it was the last year being together and haveing fun.Also know that maybe in the furture we may or may not see each other.This was the year that had keep us all together so looking back on this day will make me think about all of this things and more. =]

When you found out that I liked Eduardo your favorite student. I felt embarrassed that you found out and then the way you made jokes about me liking him. “Like the way you said he would be on facebook diciendo que esta asiendo ella”. Well I don’t have a facebook yet ! Plus I have to say he is a good guy but he has Daisy (not the dog the girl) and I hope they have a really long relationship even though you just told me that they broke up which I cant believe because they were happy together. That was funny and you caught me unexpected when you told me that they weren’t together just when I was about to accept the fact that he was still with daisy. Plus Mr. Barr you are the best ever like I never had the strength to write a poem about my feelings like the one about Leon. You inspired me to write poems. Plus I think I will never forget you!!!! You’re the best and that fight between me and you was kind of funny even thought you hurt my feelings when you said “oh is Melissa going to be helping with this project”. So yeah your awesome!!! My favorite memory of 8th grade is when i was with lily and liyah in rewards day on friday and we were very hyper and then Liyah tackled lily and she fell and i couldn't stop laughing then we started running around with the hola-hoops. <3
ReplyDeleteMy favorite 8th grade memory was when we went to the House of blues. How it started raining and all the girls hair turn from straight to curly and how in Ed devics we had a blast. I look at it and wow that was like so long ago but it feels like just yesterday . Im really going to miss 8th grade :D......!

ReplyDeletewas the best thing that happened in 8th grade history. it was fun food and milk going everywhere all over the room. Even thought we got to clean up it was worth it i will never forget it. i felt very happy that because it was somethiing not wasnt expected in my life, but im glad it happened. i was thinking as it was happing dammm these kids are crazy! looking back at it i think i think more people had to be involed or helped clean up it was very fun momment of 2011.
A favorite momory i have of 8th Grade was when the Food fight happened between 302 and 304. When the food fight happened i was shocked that they threw the food but at the same time happy. I felt happy because i thought it wouldnt happen, but it did. While the food fight happened i thought to myself Oh! lemme throw some food and at the same time i wanted to leave cause i didnt wanted food on my school shirts. Looking back at that day now makes me think why didnt we make it bigger and why didnt the other 8th graders got invovle in it.:D..thats my favorite memory of 8th Grade.

My favorite memory is gonna be on monday next week. Thats gonna be my favorite memory of eight grade because im going to graduate. Im gonna like it because it will show me that im ready for hight school. And also because im going to have a party on the same day and get money ($) to spend it on the whole summer that i get.
ReplyDeleteThe most fun i had in 8th grade was when i got to meet new people and make friends. By the middle and end of the year of 8th grade was the funnest. The beggining was not that fun because i didnt know the teachers that well and my new 304 classmates.
ReplyDeleteI remember that one time after school, when me & Ellena were running up the stairs from lunch & into the library. This happened many times, but this one was very different. :)
ReplyDeleteWe were racing for candy, when Ellena tripped me. I grabbed her foot, & we both ended up on the floor. It was a literally a cat fight, caught on video, too. :D
We don't really know why, but we started fighting, & pulling hair. But the love is still there.....sometimes. When she's not anoying me. :D
I would say the best memorie of eights grade is when we went to the house of blues nand then to eat. I think it was just very interesting and fun...

My favorite time of the year would provably be when we whent to the house of blues and then went to eat at Ed Devebic's. That was the best tim of the year because we learned about african american history. They had showed us art and stories of the past. We also went to EdDevebic's which was so much fun since we were with our friends. There were many fun times in 8th frade but I would say this was my favorite time out of the whole year.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory that I remember is when 302 and 306 went to the field trip in Northwestern University. I thought it was fun because we all spent time together and play. Also because Mr. Barr didn't went and we didn't have to see him.Jk.Finaly because we learn new stuff about college.
ReplyDeleteI think a fun moment in 8th grade for me was when the food fight was happening. I think that was fun because it was fun watching those kids get in big trouble and also those kids getting dirty. I felt bad for those kids that got dirty just because they were in the middle of the food fight. When it was happening I right away think that those kids who started it were going to be in big trouble. I feel kind of nervous right now when I go to lunch because if there’s another food fight I don’t want to get involve in a food fight and get suspended....
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory was when we had the Christmas party and I was eating tons of pizza. I think I was the first one to get back in line for more pizza. All I was thinking about was eating more pizza because there was nothing interesting for me to do. Then jasmine tried to get me away from the pizza but failed and I continued to eat. But then I was really full so I slept behind the teachers so there was a less chance of me getting hit with a ball because some of the students were playing basketball or something. Then Mrs. Christensen asked me that “was the food coma setting in?” and I said yes and I wanted to laugh but I couldn’t because it hurt. I wish I could brought leftover pizza home so I could of ate it later for dinner or maybe even breakfast. I love eating pizza for breakfast. I really want to have another pizza party like that again soon.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory from eighth was with Leslie and Sandra. We learned some many things from each other. In tech lab me and Leslie learned not to turn around and look at Paola and Ellena, or turn around at all during tech lab. It was best not to know what they were doing or talking about. They always got in trouble in tech lab anyways. Sandra and I had good times during Reading . We helped each other and had arguments. One time I was helping Sandra with her drawing for her poem, she couldn’t draw a dog. When I was done with my drawing, I labeled the colors of the background . Sandra took out a blue sharpie to label one even though I didn’t tell her to. I tried to stop her, but it was too late. She wrote on the paper and it went through the glossy paper for the poem, and now there’s a blue B on my poem for the book.Those were good memories.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have a favorite 8th grade memory. Although there was that time when I first entered in the classroom 303. When I first went into the classroom I thought Where am I going to sit. I guess I felt really nervous because I didn't know half of the people in the class. Even though I knew most of the people, I felt that at that time I didn't really know anyone. Then when I found a seat Mrs. Christensen called our names to make sure everyone was there. When the teacher didn't call my name I felt really, really, really nervous, but after a while she did. Looking back at that moment now I feel like I want to laugh at that moment. That moment is kinda funny because when I remember it I remember I how I felt completely worried. I suppose it was worth it going through that experience because now I know people I haven't met before.
ReplyDeletemy favorite memory related to the eight grade was i got accept to uic college prep. this was the favorite memory of my life related to the eigth grade because thats one of the schools that caught my attention and inside the school it looks amazing. another reason i wanted to go to the school because my cousin goes to the school and i already know people there, so i wont be lost the first day of school.
ReplyDeleteA favorite momment is when we went to the ALS walk. I liked going to the walk because I got to hang out with all my school friends without having to go to school. It was also very fun because Ceaser was screaming and we pretty much where the only class yelling by the end of the walk.
ReplyDeleteA story or memory i remember is that when we go to all 4 classes i think some of the teachers make us laugh. Also the teachers sometimes act funny but related the goofiness to what they are teaching us. Another thing i like is when they waist time just by saying stories or by making us laugh in some funny ways. The teachers that i think make us laugh the most are Mr. Barr and Mrs. Murphy. I think that Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. cahill are the ones to tell funny memories or stories that they when through. So by them doing it i think they make class more intersting and less boring. The funniest part that the teachers do is that sometimes they goof around with students by burning them as if they were one of the students.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory of 8th grade was when Mr.barr fell off the desk it was funny.I felt bad for him but at the same time fell like laughing really hard because of his expresion of his face.I still picture him breaking the desk.when i go back and remember the time i still laugh but i hope it never happends the to him.
ReplyDeleteI remember that one time in library when Paola J and me ended up fighting, AGAIN! There was no purpose for this one, but Paola J tripped me. Cristina was laughing at me falling, & Leslie pushed me down. I yelled at Paola, & called her short. She almost punched me in la cara. So we ended up rolling on the floor, pulling hair, throwing shoes, having books thrown, and being surprisingly silent. Potatoe, Potatato, I ended up with a shoe print on my face, & she had one on her shirt. But the love is still there... sometimes. When she doesn't annoy me. :)

A memory from 8th grade is when we were in gym playing soccer and we were fooling around between friends. While we were waiting for our turn we were pushing each other. Cristina was on the floor tying her shoe laces. We pushed Ellena and she tripped over Cristina and fell to the ground. She blushed in embarrasment. She then tried to get revenge.Thats my 8th grade memory.
ReplyDeleteI really don’t have a favorite memory but I did like every class. In every class I will have a memory I would always remember the teachers and different people. My 1st period I will remember Mr. Barr with his coffee I would remember Miguel with his trash basketball, Lesley with her” stop virgin”, and Tarzan with his wait I cant tell you that. The other thing I would remember is 2nd period with ms.christain and pj with her point testers, sandrita, and more people. I would remember 3rd pd with Ms Cahill with maribel and more ppl. I would always remember last fun period with ms.murphey and yutrice etc. I would remember 8th always and forever. i love the 8th grade and remeber everybody. i loved all 4th perids and all the teacers and students.good luck in highscholl all 8th graders.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite memory that relates to the 8th grade is when Ellena fell down. We were in gym and everyone else was playing dodge ball. Cristina, Ellena, Liz, and Sandra were on the side because we dint bring our gym shoes. Liz was pushing us side to side. Cristina was at the end of the line and Ellena was next to Cristina, I was next to Ellena, Liz was next to me, and Sandra was next to Liz. Both Liz and Sandra tried to push all of us. At that moment Cristina bent down to tie her shoe and I moved out of the was before they can push all of us. The pushed Ellena really hard and she tripped over Cristina and she fell backwards. It was really funny. It seem as if it was planned out.
ReplyDeleteBased on my 8th grade year at Nightingale, I believe my greatest memory was the moment when Aaron Elster...A holocaust survivor visit Nightingale to talk and tell his story as a Holocaust victim. I was very excited and nervous at the same time. When he salute me I thought it was really awesome to meet him. All during his speech I was thinking of how peaceful he should be right now. Instead of hate toward the Nazis, he felt peace and love. No hate at all except his worst deception...Now I feel totally different when i look back at that fast moment. It went really fast but it was for sure my greatest moment of the year.Finally i can conclude that Aaron Elster was the change of the world,including myself.

ReplyDeleteI member like a couple of months ago where we were going to our homeroom and my pants falling. I felt very embassed because it was in front of 6th,7th & 8th graders. The person who pulled them down was Alondra. Now when i see it back it was the funnest and most embrassing moment of my year in 8th hahaha
ReplyDeletemy memories were having fun with all my class mates also that i loved the rewards offriday also that we did some cool projects and also that we did alot of cool projects and that the food fight was not our fault but i now that kids plan it. but also that gym ,libary,music and tech lab it was a nice year and alot of us enjoy it so this is the best year because i got to graduate....<3

ReplyDeleteI remember the times I had with the class of 2011. We had good times and we had bad times such as the food fight and the als walk. I hope and wish that i stick to the usual concept of keeping my head up and staying strong. My life and other's are changing every day every min. but, to accomplish all of our dreams we could'nt help but thank all of our fellow 8th grade teachers. I remember those days when we use to be happy when our teachers were'nt there but, missed them and noticed that they were always there for us. I can't believe our time is up but, i can't wait to finally move on<3

ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory related to 8th grade was when i went to tech lab classes with kitty.we would not do our work && play the piano on module of digital musik.i felt awesome & happy because we had fun playin the song marry had a little lamb.i will really miss those monments.wen had good times & talked about our favorite rock songs & bands. we would always sing diamond's aren't forever by BMTH♥:).kitty would braid my hair cause we were bored.i will never forget these moments.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory was the ALS walk becuase it was in support for people with ALS and it was in important for Mr.Piegari. I felt great cuz i was with my friends and knew that i would make my 7th Grade teacher happy. When i think back to that day i really feel great, and proud of my self because i know i have helped alot of people including Mr.Piegari fighting the ALS.

When we first arrived there i thought to myself would people be proud of us would Mr.Piegari be proud of us would i be proud of myself. I felt so happy to be there supporting a good teacher becuase even do he was hard on us all he wanted was for us to succed in life. When i think back to that i feel proud of myself also that i made the 2 miles!!!
ReplyDeleteOne 8th grade memory thst I'll always remember is when 306 threw a birthday party for Mrs. Murphy! That day was really important to her and we celebrated it. I think she really apreciated what we did because she looked really happy. People came in the classroom early just to decorate the class for her. We had ballons all over the class. That day is a day ill always remember!

ReplyDeleteI really had the best time in the bus with edna and melissa.And me and edna would sing Diamonds arent forever or we would sing The downfall of us something like that. We try taking pictures in the bus,but we failed at thatxDD.Melissa made me laugh jst like edna does everyday;]im going to miss that that day.The other day was when i was with itzel to tech lab we always had fun there it was my favorite day of the week.We would always sing diamonds arent forever and had good laughs with her jokes and her loud laugh;D Im,m going to miss eight grade and allo my memories i had;]Goodbye eight grade;']
what i remember most is when ms cahill told me i have to do beter or else i wont graduate. i renember how much i didnt really care. i just felt tired of her saying this stuf. it wasnt really important then. but now i feel horible. yesterday the paper came of me not graduating on time. as i cried myself to sleep. i renembered how ms cahill told me and i took it as a joke. i should have taken it more serious i wish i can go back and actually care but its to late know. as i remember this right now i feel so dumb and i feel theres only one thing to do graduate in august.

Then after when we went to Ed Devicks and all of a suden a dude walks by that looked like Mr.Barr that was hilarius. Another good memory was when I was in the play as stage crew. I thought it was funny because we would just make fun of ourselves. Now Im gonna miss all that because i cant go back..... I dont wanna leave anymore. :(

ReplyDeleteWhen I first came to my 8th grade class(room 304) I felt nervous. I could still remmember the feeling I had at the time. My palms were warm. But when time passed it wasnt that nerv raking.Now when i`m about to graduate I remmember that day and commpare it to now.I used to fell nervous,and now I feel confident but sometimes my warm palms come back.

ReplyDeleteWell one favorite monent I had in 8th grade was um when some of my friends and me started messing around with some other kids. Nothing serious just playing having fun. I had a lot of fun that day. Looking back on that day I think that what we did was kind of fun and ok but I dont really do stuff like that anymore.

ReplyDeleteOne of my favortite memories is when...uh..when we went to the house of blues. We all got wet because of the rain. We were all yelling cause we were getting really wet. Then we went to Ed Debevic's and we were hanging out with all our friends. It was funny to see Mr.Barr wearing a hat it made him look like a sailor. :D
ReplyDeletewell i really liked this year in 8th am going to miss everybody and even the teachers lol (not) haha jk i will. am going to remember everything i learned in school and try my best in high school but mostly show that i can do what i want if i put my mind to it and work hard i really liked reading the book warriors don't cry it was interesting and i enjoyed it all am really going to miss this year and i wish i was able to graduate but theirs always another chance and this time i wont blow it.:D
ReplyDeleteI didnt really have any good memories but the good memory i have is the food fight in the lunch room it was fun i wasnt involed in any of the throwing. I didnt felt proud of what happned but it was exiting looking at the food fly across the lunch room. I felt as if the lunch cartons were going to struck me with much force and the lunch trays were going to dirty my shirt. Looking back to that accident its a funny memory and an unforgetable one to.
ReplyDeleteThe time we threw food it was fun i wish i threw food but i didnt.it was a weird feeling because it happened out of the blue i really didnt know it was going to be big but it kind of did.i kind of wished that everyone joined it would have been better.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite small moment would be the frist day of school because i was meeting new people and techers,also the new things i was going to learn.For me that was the most messed up day because you felt weird with the feeling of meeting new people.After all the messed up day happen i feel bad for feeling the way because it turnd out to be the best year of my life.
ReplyDeleteWell one if the best moments I think I'd not forget would be in Mr. Barr's class when the other students had a fieldtrip to Kelly. It was real fun because we were just there talking about who's cousin he would go out with which was real hilarious because because bella even gave her cousins phone number away to him and put it in his pocket. And then when Mr.Barr said " C'mere hot stuff it's valentines" it was just something I would remember even though he didnt say which cousin. Just saying Mr.Barr my cousin is getting her whatever it is to become a teacher. :D
