I Never Saw Another Butterfly
As part of our Holocaust presentation, some 8th grade Nightingale students performed a play that showed the hopes, dreams, and daily activities of children in the Terezin Concentration Camp.
Butterflies Project
These butterflies will be sent to a Holocaust museum in Texas to commerate the death of 1.5 million children during the Holocaust.

ReplyDeleteThe picture #1 and # 2 are of people working and enslaved and how they made them do things for other people.I think that it was unfair beacause they treated them like property.
ReplyDeleteSlavery #2- In this picture I think that some soldiers are coming to take away some slaves, but they're not giving up without a fight. But maybe eventually the soldiers will capture them, use them for slaves, and they might be punished for refusing capture.
ReplyDeleteSlavery #3- In this picture, an african-american slave had something put over their mouth because maybe they talked back to the slave owners or tried biting the slave owner. I think they might take off the thing over the mouth, but only it the slave owner thinks that his/her slave has learned their lesson.
SLAVERY #2-To me it looks like its a slave fighting with another person. There's alot of people watching them and i think that the other person is a more powerful person thAn the slave so i think the slave will get punished.
ReplyDeleteSLAVERY #3-To me it looks like a lady who's a slave that is very sick but isnt getting treated for the reason that she's a slave. I think that's unfair and that she doesn't deserve the treatment she's getting, and if its a bad disease that she has, she will eventually die without any treatment.
I think the slavery pictures were sad how they treated them.Like they were nothing like they could do with slaves whatever they want, and nobody did nothing about that.
ReplyDeleteIn the pictures of slavery i think slavery was wrong. In picture 2 they're treating dark skin people and others differently, which is unfair. They should treat each other the same. In Slavery #2 it seems bad because in slavery many innocent people died.

ReplyDeleteSlavey picture # 1 gives me lots of feelings since i mostly see people torchuring a young boy. It seems like they are about to burn him to death like the old times. This seems worser since it's not an adult and he dosen't have any rights but, we all should. Even if he's african american or she's asian it dosen't matter what race the people are we are all the same. =) The worst part is that nobody is saying anything about it letting this happen knowing it could be there kid but no back then slavery was hard on african americans.=(

For picture number 1 i think that it looks like their punishing a slave or cspturing him from scaping. For picture #2 it looks like the slaves went rebeled and were having a battle. For picture #3 it looks like they might of punished the slave for talking too much or maybe she was just sick.For the final picture i think it looks like they are enjoying their freedom maybe or just singing a sad song.

Slavery #1 looks like there are white people hitting african americans. I also think that the owners were trading african americans to other people for money or other sorce of products.

In picture 1 you could see how slave is beeing hold and is torture by metal with fire while other slaves watch. In picture 3 you could see how a slave has a mussel that probaly her owner put on her this shows that some of the owners were so cruel that hey put mussel on them.

ReplyDeleteIn slavery picture nunber 4 I think that the two men are just trying to pass sometime by making music and talking. I am sure that they do that to try to make the best of what they are doing. Since they were treated so cruely they needed time to just relax.
In slavery picture number 1 I think that some slaves are being tortured by their owner. They might not have been up to the owners standards. That was very crule to do and I think that the slaves should have had the same respect as the owners That is what I think about the slave pictures.

What i think about picture #1 is that thats really wrong because they should of treat everyone the same.What i think about picture #2 is that they shouldn't be killing people like that even though they were slaves. =( Thats what i think of those two pictures and they shouldn't of treated people like that!!!! =(

Also the first picture shows how much the African/Americans suffer as slaves . They get beat and killed after working their body just for a harsh beating.

ReplyDeleteSome of these pictures are really touching and sad.Specailly picture #3 where this slave has some kind of mussel on his face so he can't talk or to stop arguing with his owners or the other people who worked with them.People are people no matter what color they are but most people don't or haven't realized that. Another picture that i thought was interesting was #1 because they are beatting a man/slave and might be after his family to.Their owners would beat them for anything and it seems like they're going to beat him or kill him.Which is very sad.These two pictures are the ones that really interested and touched me.

ReplyDeleteThe other picture that I thought was harsh also was picture number 3. i think this is harsh because the slave has a mussel on them. I guess the owner put that on the slave to stop talking. That's usally what they use for the dogs to not bark. So I think that shouln't be on the slave. So all the pictures are harsh but the ones i though were the worst are picture number two and three.
Picture4-What I see in the picture is two African American men talking while one is playing a banjo/guitar.After seeing this picture my result is that African American's mussle like a dog and the person sad.After sociliazed like normal people and liked music.

I'm writing about the Slavery #3. What i see in that picture is someone with a mussel on, and i think the african is doing that to stay out of diseases(dust) in the old time.

ReplyDeleteSlavery#1: Well I think that when the slaves are bad they punished them infront of their other family members or friends. Or when they are extremely bad or brought disgrace or did something wrong the slave got death and was killied in front of the savle's loved ones.

I saw picture number three[3] and see what slavery was like.The woman has a type of mussel on her face.It covers her mouth and goes to her hair and back.She looks tired and sad ,she also has a necklace.Then I saw the slave picture number one[1]. It looks like they are beating up the slave. They might be killing him.

ReplyDeleteI think picture #3 is a slave that isn't allowed to talk which is why he has a mask over his mouth. I think this picture shows one of the difficulties that was being faced in the time of the slavery. I think this is a difficulty because not being able to talk is not a very good thing to ask for since all humans needs to talk the majority of times, whether it's for help or for enything important. Slavery #2 are people fighting. That's not a good thing because fighting isn't the right thing to do.

In #3 it looks like a person with a mask who is really sick and in closed off area.It makes me think of medical injustices that the slaves had to go through. In the first picture i saw which was slavery #3 it was a woman wearing a dog musiel. I thought that was pretty mean for someone to be treated as a dog. The next picture was slavery #1 this is where they tied them up and sold them to farmers. People shouldnt be sold espacialy so they could do your work instead of you doing i yourself!

ReplyDeleteThe first thing i do is go to the bathroom and turn on the foset.Then, i put tooth paste in my toooth brush. Next, i put my tooth brush inside my mouth. After, that i start brushing my teeth. Last when i finish i wash my mouth and take all the tooth paste thats in my mouth! =]
